Realtime Depositions
Using real-time reporting saves valuable time in the discovery process by giving you instant access to the testimony so you can digest it immediately or use it for other depositions that are scheduled soon after.
Many of our clients also say that receiving a real-time feed allows them to easily refer back to testimony throughout the deposition to ensure that they are getting the information they need.
Real-time deposition reporting
Receive an instant visual display of the deposition testimony as it is spoken. You can leave the deposition with an electronic transcript in hand.
Real-time can speed up proceedings by up to 25 percent, cutting costs and resolving matters more quickly.
Real-time text and video streaming over the Internet
Fusion can send deposition text and video over the Internet so that appropriate remote parties receive the text in real-time as well as the video stream.
This service enables attorneys and paralegals to observe depositions from their home offices without incurring unnecessary travel costs.
REALTIME DEPOSITIONS - FAQs
1. Do I need special software for realtime?
a.There are four pieces of software on the market that are used for realtime purposes.
i.Bridge – (freeware) – You are able to perform simple functions during the realtime deposition. You can make quick marks, notes, search words, and issue code. Each file is saved after the deposition. You cannot run reports and you cannot set up cases.
ii.Transcript Manager Pro – ($695.00 per license) – You are able to search text, make quick marks, issue code, and make notes during the deposition. You can run reports. You can set up a case so each deposition is listed under the named case.
iii.LiveNote – (Monthly subscription or $70.00 token) – This is the most comprehensive of all of the realtime software. You are able to make notes, search words, and issue code. You can run reports. This software also includes a word wheel.
iv.Summation – If you are using Summation Blaze as your litigation support software, Summation includes realtime software.
v.CaseViewNet – (freeware) – You are able to perform simple functions during the realtime deposition. You can make quick marks, notes, search words, and issue code. Each file is saved after the deposition. You cannot run reports and you cannot set up cases.
2. What else do I need besides the software and computer?
a.Fusion reporters use a wireless realtime connection to your computer. Our reporters will bring everything that is needed for the wireless hookup. If you plan on receiving realtime from another firm (either in-state or out-of-state), you will possibly need a serial port on your computer or a USB-to-serial adapter. Fusion keeps adapters on hand.
3. Is there any extra cost for realtime?
a.There is an extra cost for realtime. Most court reporting firms charge an added per-page fee for you to receive the realtime feed.
4.When the deposition is over, will I have the transcript on my computer?
a.Yes. Once the court reporter disconnects from your computer, the transcript is resident on your computer. If any notes or quick marks, for instance, were made, those remain in the transcript.
Electronic Transcripts
RealLegal E-Transcript files surpass the functionality of an ASCII file! Recipients do not require any special software to open, browse, search or print a RealLegal E-Transcript… just the free E-Transcript Viewer. Court reporters can instantly send the E-Transcript files in ".EXE" format with the E-Transcript Viewer embedded, or as a ".PTX" file so law firms can download the free viewer separately. RealLegal E-Transcript files can be delivered via email, on diskette, or within a Publisher Bundle containing all of the applicable transcripts, linked exhibits, and synchronized video from the case.
Each RealLegal E-Transcript has guaranteed page and line integrity and comes as a read-only, accurate, encrypted, virus and password-protected transcript. For maximum security and authentication, court reporters can include their official electronic signature with each RealLegal E-Transcript. Law firms also have the ability to create their own E-Transcript from an ASCII using RealLegal E-Transcript Internet™ on a pay-per-use basis.
RealLegal E-Transcript files offer:
- Printing Power - Recipients may print single transcripts, condensed transcripts (up to 16 pages of transcripts per sheet), and word indices.
- Value-added Format - Time spent searching and summarizing transcripts is reduced by using the patented Hyperlinked Word Index. The interactive key word index is electronically linked to page and line numbers in the transcript.
- Easy and Accurate Citations - Text can be copied directly from the E-Transcript Viewer and pasted elsewhere. The pasted citation automatically includes the deponent name, date, page and line summary, and the formatted text.
- Import Flexibility - Attorneys may directly import E-Transcript files into LiveNote SR and other popular litigation support software.
- Verified Authenticity - An E-Transcript Electronic Signature certificate can be viewed on-screen to instantly verify its authenticity and security.
- And much more!
Linked exhibit files are embedded in the single PDF transcript file. Each reference to an exhibit is hyperlinked to the exhibit document and opens with a click. Each exhibit is also listed in the bookmarks section with a comprehensive list of back-links to each page the exhibit is referenced upon. So the transcript is hyperlinked to the exhibit files, and the exhibit files are hyperlinked back to all the transcript references.
